Application | 2-oxo-1, 5-glutaric acid disodium salt dihydrate is also called α-ketoglutarate sodium (α-KG sodium). Alpha-ketoglutaric acid (α-KG) is an important dibasic acid in tricarboxylic acid cycle and amino acid metabolism. It can provide nutrition for human and animals and is widely used in medicine, food, fine chemical industry and other fields. |
Preparation | Add NaOH solution with a concentration of 30% (mass percentage) to dimethyl 2, 2-dichloroglutarate, and react at 60 ℃ for 4 hours. The ratio of the amount of dimethyl 2, 2-dichloroglutarate to NaOH is 1:0.7; where the two Cl on dimethyl 2, 2-dichloroglutarate is replaced by two OH, the two hydroxyl groups connected to the same carbon are unstable and dehydrated to form carbonyl groups. The esters at both ends are hydrolyzed to become carboxyl groups under alkaline conditions to form sodium α-ketoglutarate. |
